Activity 3: Reading - Exploring the Hotel Room 📖

Read this story about Alex exploring a hotel room.

Alex finally got the key card to his hotel room. He was excited to see what it was like inside. He opened the door and stepped in. The first thing he noticed was the big, comfortable-looking Bed. It had fluffy pillows and a neat blanket. Alex thought it would be perfect for a good night's sleep after his long trip. Next to the bed, there was a small table with a lamp and a telephone. He wondered if he could use the phone to call for Room service later if he got hungry. He saw a door and opened it. It was the Bathroom! It was very clean and had a shower, a sink, and a toilet. There were fresh, soft Towels neatly folded on a shelf. Alex was pleased with the bathroom; it had everything he needed.

He then explored the rest of the room. There was a desk, a TV, and a closet for his clothes. He also found a small sign on the back of the door. It said "Do not disturb" on one side and "Please make up room" on the other. Alex thought the "Do not disturb" sign would be useful if he wanted to sleep in late the next morning without being interrupted by housekeeping. He decided he liked his hotel room very much. It was cozy and had all the important things for a comfortable stay. He unpacked his suitcase and decided to take a short rest on the inviting Bed before exploring the city.

Maria (Guest): Yes, the Bed looks very comfortable. I was wondering, how do I request an extra Towel for the Bathroom?

Mr. Chen (Hotel Staff): You can call housekeeping by dialing '0' on your room phone, or I can send one up for you now.

Maria (Guest): Oh, that would be great if you could send one. Also, do you offer Room service?

Mr. Chen (Hotel Staff): Yes, we do. There's a Room service menu in your room. You can call the number listed to place an order.

Maria (Guest): Perfect. And if I don't want housekeeping to come in tomorrow morning, I should use the "Do not disturb" sign, correct?
